Back to Texas we go

We had so much fun on our trip. I can't wait to go again. It will be so exciting watching the kids learn to ski.
Our view heading home.
It was taking forever for the snow to fall off the car. Ryan opened end the sunroof screen and still had a huge pile on top. Ha.
Finally back in Texas.
The drive was far less boring than the drive there. It helped Ryan let me listen to prime country!
I was so excited to pass Cadillac ranch. We had perfect timing, the wiener mobile was passing it right as we were so I got a picture of both. We stopped in Amarillo for lunch at Hooters. I was so happy to have some sweet tea again. I was having major withdrawals.
We finally made it home about 7, picked the kids up and gave them their gifts before bed. I was so happy to see their sweet faces. Thanks lolly & pops for keeping my littles so we could have some kid free time!

Day 3 of skiing

This day was the most fun! We got up early and hit the slopes as soon as the ski lifts opened. By this day I had it down!
I went with Ryan to what I thought was going to be a green slope. We went down it then once on the lift he said that was a blue. Ha! The guys got tricks people.
Since he tricked me I made him take a selfie.
We did the same slope a few times to make sure I had it. I fell a couple times but that's just part of learning.
This is a restaurant bar at the top of the slope. They were allowing foot traffic this day so Lauren, and two others that were with us rode up the lift while we skied the slopes around it.
Carson's name was pretty famous up there so I had to take pics to show him.
My favorite slope we skied was Kit Carson.
This was the view from the top of Kit Carson.
After we skied for the day we turned in our stuff, then Lauren and I did a little shopping. This little store had the cutest stuff ever. After the lady rang us up we put a few things back. We got a little carried away. Ha!We had dinner then went back to pack our stuff. We wanted to get an early start driving home since we heard the roads in Texas were bad.
My car on day 3 before defrosting it.

Ski trip day 2

The next morning we woke up to loads of snow. There was 19 inches at the top of the mountains and 13 at the base. Insane.
Ryan, Pete, and Charlie went to ski some of the harder slopes while Lauren and I hung out to play in the snow.
Us Texas girls aren't used to this so we were loving it.

We caught Ryan at the bottom taking a break. Snow boarding involves a lot of rolling around in the snow.
I tried getting a selfie with the deer but then I dropped my phone in the deep snow. Eek!!

After lunch we headed out to ski the bunny slope.
It took me a couple times to get it down. I would go so fast. Once I got my turns in check it was easy! I'm so glad I had Lauren to ski with. Ryan's a very advanced skier so I didn't expect him to hang with me.
He did come check on me every now and then.
Our cars the second day of snow. After we skied we changed clothes and headed for dinner. We went to a Mexican food place. It smelled so good and was ok, but still not like Texas tex mex.
After dinner it was bed time! I went to bed so early there. The elevation made my sleep schedule whack!

Ski trip day 1

The first morning we were there Lauren & I took ski lessons. I had been skiing one other time but never took lessons and was awful.
It was a 2 hour class and the longest 2 hours of my life. When we first started my calves were killing me they felt like they were staying flexed in my boots. I ended up having to get different boots. I was good to go after that.
While I was changing boots  I snapped a pic of Lauren in the class. 😜 the class felt like a lifetime and we did great. I was hesitant to do the lift and bunny slope still, so after lunch Lauren and I took a private lesson. I highly, highly, highly recommend private lessons. Our instructor was phenomenal by the end of the hour I was using the ski lift and going down the bunny slope without fear.
When we got back to our cabin these deer were all over the place. Ryan & I were lazy this night. We went to the grocery store and got a few things for sandwiches, took showers, and watched tv. I think we were asleep by 9. I wanted to rest up for my next day of bunny slope action.

Road trip day 1&2

Last Thursday afternoon we left the house in a huge hurry, got the kids dropped off with Lolly & pops and headed West.  We were supposed to leave Friday morning but Ryan had a job to measure up in Midland, so I packed us in about thirty minutes. Whew!
We didn't get on the road until about 4. We knew we would hit some traffic trying to get out of Dallas. It really wasn't all that bad until Ft. Worth. We sat on I-20 for an hour due to an over turned car.
After that it was pretty smooth sailing. We stopped at Whataburger for a quick dinner then headed on to Big Spring. We stopped there for the night because it's a littler cheaper to stay than Midland. We got up about 8 to go to the job site.
I always like tagging along to jobs with Ryan.
This was pretty much our view for the next 8 hours. I thought from midland we would have like a 4 hour drive to Red River. Ha! So wrong!!
We finally passed through a big town. I was kind of excited to go through Roswell. It's such a silly town & I had never been there before.
Ryan wasn't interested in stopping at the museum so I just took a pic.
There was these little alien things all over town. It would be so weird to live there & see these daily.
We continued driving and saw lots of this and about a million tumbleweeds. I was getting sooooo bored. And all Ryan would listen to was outlaw country on XM. We went about 250 miles without passing a town or gas station. I got so nervous when I heard the gas light ding. We were low On fuel without a town or sign in sight. We were coasting down big hills to save fuel and then we see a state trooper. Awesome! He was so kind to turn around, catch up and pull us over. I tried to take a picture of us pulled over but Ryan yanked my phone away and told me to be still. Rude. We were only going 10 over which I find very reasonable. I drive 8-10 over pretty much everywhere. The trooper didn't care we were about to run out of gas and gave us a ticket anyway. A couple more miles down the road there was finally a station. Hallelujah!!! We had about 5 miles to E.
Finally I was seeing mountains in the distance. We were close!!!
Seriously!!! Are we there yet!?? Longest.drive.ever
