Saturday night in Shreveport

Saturday afternoon Ryan, and I headed out to Shreveport for a little night away.
On our way out there Ryan surprised me with a new ipad mini.
We had to make a pit stop at a job Ryan had to measure. It's fun when I get to go to jobs with him. When we were dating he used to let me tag along all the time! Our drive down there was pretty eventful. We were driving through an old town, and saw a car run into the back of a trailer while it was driving down the road, then the car cut in front of three cars, and took off some side streets. I'm guessing that guy didn't have insurance.
The reason we go to Shreveport isn't to gamble, but to go eat at Ralph & Kacoos. It is soooo good. If you're ever driving through Shreveport make sure you stop. It's exit 20B. :) It was an hour and 20 minute wait when we put our name on the list. When you drive out of state to eat dinner you have no choice but to wait it out.
I love their stuffed crab. It is amazing! I was feeling chubby so it made me feel better to get steamed veggies instead of fries. Ha! I don't think the veggies made a difference. When we go to Shreveport we never plan ahead. Last year we went on our anniversary which was also super bowl weekend. Since the super bowl was in NOLA, the casino hotels were booked. We got lucky and got the last room at the Hilton. This time I called ahead, and with it being Vday weekend the casino hotels were once again booked up. I called about 6 hotels before finding one with a room. It wasn't the worst we've stayed in, but it definitely wasn't the best. Let's just say Ryan told me he will be booking the next hotel. Ha.
Sunday we were glad to be heading back home. I felt dirty, and did not sleep well at all. The hotel lady told me the room had two queen beds, but they were full size. I love my husband, but I need more room when I sleep.
We decided to take back roads home to check out some lake properties for this summer. The lakes around here are so low it's looking like if we want to use our boat we're going to have to do some traveling. It was a fun little drive, and didn't seem like it took as long to get home.
We may or may not have been going a little too fast down the back roads. When we got pulled over Ryan couldn't find his insurance card, so the officer told him to keep looking while he ran his license. Ryan finally found it, and went back to give it to the officer. After a while I was wondering what was taking so long, I look back and Ryan is in the state troopers car. Turns out the state trooper is a diesel guy and was in the car talking trucks with Ryan. The state trooper was nice enough to let us off with a warning.

In case you were wondering if our kids missed us while we were gone...
...they didn't.
Lolly's house is too much fun. They took a nice bubble bath, made bubble beards like daddy's, and Olivia got to experience curlers for the first time. Thanks Lolly & Pops for keeping these two love bugs!

My valentines

We are definitely not big celebrators of Valentines Day. We actually only celebrate it for the kids.
Friday we were so exhausted we spent the entire evening on the couch. Finally about 9 o'clock I said okay lets open presents.
I usually just give the kids a pair of pjs for Vday, and some chocolate. This year I found a good deal on a few things, so they were kind of spoiled.
Olivia took everything out of the bag and just threw it on the ground. She only cared about the chocolate.
We signed Carson up for another season of baseball, so part of his gift was some new cleats. I found a pair at academy for $9.98. I was so excited, because I was expecting to spend about $20. I found him a little finger dirt bike at my favorite store, the $1 tree, some candy, a dirt bike shirt, and some legos.
Olivia got some new sandals, and a couple of outfits from Target I got on clearance. After they finished opening their gifts, we had a really fancy Whataburger dinner, then we had our Friday night slumber party in our room.
In my opinion this was the perfect Valentines Day.

Teacher gift idea

I wanted to do a post just for Carson's teachers gift we gave her.
We gave her a cute little tumblr cup, I made some hugs pretzels, personalized hand sanitizer, and eos lip balm.
Here's a close up of what the hand sanitizer looks like. Teachers can never have enough hand sanitizer. My SIL gave these to my nephews teachers at the beginning of the school year last year. I thought they were so cute, so I had to copy it. The printable is here. She posted all the instructions you need, and at the very bottom she has the printable for you to download. I also gave these to the office staff. They are that easy to make!

Valentines pizza party

Friday Carson had a pizza party in his classroom.
His class saved $78 in their save jar, so Mrs. Scherer wanted to spend it on a pizza party to reward them for their hard work.
I offered to bring a fruit tray to eat with their pizza, and another mom brought a veggie tray.
Since it was valentines day I brought these cupcake wrappers to put their fruit in it to jazz up their plate a little bit. I thought it turned out cute.
After we ate Mrs. Scherer opened her gifts while us moms picked up lunch.
Then Olivia helped teach the class. We may have a little teacher in the making.
After recess the kids came back in and had a Valentines day party.
The room mom brought some fun activities for the kids. They played candy corn bingo first.
Olivia just ate the candy corns.
Next they made bracelets. They had all sorts of beads, so they could make whatever kind of bracelet their little hearts desired.
I think their favorite craft was decorating cupcakes.
We had spending the day at school with Carson. I know he enjoyed having us there, too!

Will you be my valentine?

Olivia had her class party last Tuesday. I almost forgot to get stuff to send to her class. Monday I found this printable on pinterest. It was super easy, cheap, and turned out cute.
Her class doesn't have a party since it's just MDO. I think they just put them in the bags, and have a cookie for snack.
For Carson's class I also copied someone's cute idea from Pinterest. That's the point of pinterest, right?
He loves hot wheels, so this was the perfect valentines for him to give out.
It can be expensive giving 19 kids a real hot wheel. So I went to the $1 tree and found a three pack of knock off hot wheels for $1 each. Score!
I loved how they turned out, and I think his friends loved getting them in their bags.
Printable here.

Doctors visit & some shopping

This morning I picked Carson up early from school to take him to the dr. I thought I was just taking him in for allergies, but last minute the dr decided she wanted to do a strep test on him. Unfortunately, it came back positive.
She said it's possible he could just be a carrier of it, and would test him for it at a well visit to see the results. So, for now we're  on singulair for allergies, and augmentin to fight off the strep, and sinus infection.
Once we finally got out of the doctors office we went to have lunch at taco bueno. I just love how cheap we can eat here. $3 for two party burritos, a soft taco, and chips & queso! I had a few errands to run while I didn't have miss priss. We went and picked her up a new car seat for her vday gift.
I've been waiting for babies r us to have their trade in event to get her a new seat at a better price. I got her seat for a whopping $40. I traded in a bouncer to get 25% off then I had $80 in gift cards. I wanted a more girly one, but those were $50 more. No thanks! After that we went and I got more make up.
I only like Mac foundation. It's light weight, and evens out my skin the best. It lasts me about a year, so I can justify buying it. Finally, we went to target to pick up his meds. Taking a kid to the doctor is expensive. $35 co pay, and $60 in antibiotics. Why did I not go to medical school?
Target was putting out their spring line. I had to tell myself no to buying Olivia this dress, and a couple of other things. I just love target for little girl clothes. Every now, and then I find cute stuff there for C.  Even though Carson was sick, I so enjoyed spending the day with him.  I really need to be better about having dates with him.

Dirt Bikes, and a Lego movie

Today was our cousins birthday party, so we headed up to the movie theater to watch the lego movie. I got Carson this Lego movie t shirt at wal mart to match the theme of the day. I thought he looked so cute.
Carson, and the birthday boy, Grayson.
Olivia is modeling another Tried and True designs outfit. We all think she's pretty "stinkin" cute."
Lauren made this super cute dirt bike cake for the party. I thought she did an awesome job!
Nicolle just loves Olivia. It's so nice when she's around. She keeps Olivia entertained!
Waiting for the movie to start.
Thanks for inviting us Grayson. We hope you have a great birthday!

It's a BOY!

Meet my sweet nephew, Nash
Isn't he cute? We were expecting his arrival on February 17th, but he had other plans. He was ready to meet the world a little early.
Olivia, and I went to meet Nash yesterday afternoon. She absolutely adores babies. I can't wait until she actually holds him, I'm sure she will love helping Aunt Katy change his diaper.
Sadly, Carson was sick so he wasn't able to go with us. Hopefully he can come by and see Nash this week. He keeps asking me to show him pictures of baby Nash.
Ryan went up there after I did. I told him not get any baby fever, this momma is done reproducing... I hope. I think the bearded man looks pretty good holding a teeny tiny little baby.
After we met Nash we went to lunch with my in laws. Their keeping Pearson while Katy is in the hospital. Pearson, and Olivia had a good time putting the stickers on the road. They have gotten to spend so much time together lately. I love they are so close in age.
We kept Pearson on Friday for a little bit. They had such a blast together.
They were such big kids sitting at their own table, having toddler talk at lunch.
