Best Friends, and goodbyes

Last week we went over to my friend, Meghan's to have a little packing party. We had pizza, and packed boxes.
Meghan moved to Colorado to be with her husband while he's working there for the next few years. We have been best of friends since Jr. High, it's really hard she's not just down the street from me anymore. I know this move is what was best for her, and her hubby. We wish them lots of happiness, and looking forward to their Thanksgiving visit.

State fair round 2

Friday I did round 2 at the state fair. Now that Carson is in school we have to go on the weekends. He gets a fair day, but it's the busiest day besides tx/ou weekend.
We started off at the cutest little pretend farm. This is the first year I felt Carson was old enough to enjoy it.
As you walk through it there are little signs to tell you what to do.
I thought it was so fun and made for fun pictures.
At the end they give you a pretend $1 and let you pick out a snack with it. Then you use your pretend $ to pay for it. I think he enjoyed it.
Next stop was the petting zoo. He really could have cared less about it.
Parker and Carson feeding some goats. It was so busy the animals weren't really eating any feed.
Feeding the animals made us hungry. We stopped for Fletcher's corny dogs. I really only go to the fair just for a corny dog.
When this boy smiles and looks at the camera he is seriously so handsome.
Our big tex photo. It was so busy we had to wait to get a spot to take a picture in front of big tex. The new big tex is so tall it's hard to get his full body and a good up close picture.
I only go to the midway when I take c. I only let him ride about 4 rides. The ride part is what makes the fair expensive. I'm all about going to the fair cheap, so I put a limit on the riding rides. I know, I'm no fun.
Carson & cousin Connor going on the bumper cars.

I rode one of the rides with Carson, and p. It made me so dizzy. No thanks!
While the big kids rode a few big rides we tried Texas fireballs. The fair is all about trying new, weird fried things. I like spicy stuff, so this sounded good. I'm not sure what all was in them except for pimento cheese and jalapeƱos. I don't think I like pimento cheese, because these were gross!
On our way out my mom had to stop at this game. every year she plays the game where you have to try and get the chicken in a moving bucket. She won, and they gave her a chicken hat. I think she was hoping to win a duck dynasty doll.
We finally got home a little after midnight. I think it's safe to say this guy had a good time. He was too tired to even put his pjs on. I enjoyed a little fun date with my sweet boy. Maybe next year we can drag Ryan with us.

No Speech Therapy

Last Wednesday Olivia had her evaluation with E.C.I. (Early Childhood Intervention) At the time I had made the appointment Olivia didn't say much, or repeat a whole lot. She could tell us what she wanted and often nodded yes or no for things. By the time the appointment came around she was talking non stop, singing songs, and repeating things. That's how it goes. I didn't want to cancel her evalutation even though she had done a total 180. Olivia still has a lisp when she talks, mostly when she pronounces anything with a "s" or a "c" Although, it is very cute it will only be cute for so long. The evalutation took about an hour. They just played with blocks, colored, threw and kicked balls, and looked at some pictures. (I didn't take any pictures because I was in the same room and was afraid of distracting her.) She really impressed me with all the things she could do. They scored everything on their lap tops as they had her do something. Her scores all came back to be at her age level or above. She was mostly between 30 & 37 months. Right on track. In the end Olivia didn't qualify for speech therapy. The speech therapist sent me home with some techniques I could try to help with her lisp. Of course Pinterest had some great activity ideas, and apps for my iphone. Alot of it will come with age, too. As she gets older she will hopefully grow out of it. I somewhat felt bad, because the people there probably thought I was just a crazy mom. I told them that I swore a month ago my daughter was on a 1 yr. old level when it came to speaking. It was a great experience, and I'm glad I still took her.

Hummer limo ride, and cicis

Carson had his first fundraiser for school not to long ago. If you raised more than $250 you got to ride in a Hummer limo to CiCi's for lunch.
This is the group on Kindergartners that got to go.
Each kid got to pick one friend from class to go with them. He chose his friend, Logan.
I was doing a garage sale with Ryan's, grandma, mom, and sister on Friday, so I wasn't able to go with him. I did run up to the school to snap a few pictures. These kids were so excited to ride in the limo. They had the music turned up so loud. I'm sure the chaperones appreciated that.
This kid is so hard to get to look at the camera.

                                           .
Thanks to everyone who contributed to Carson's fundraiser. Without y'all he could not have had this opportunity. He had a great time!

Our star student

Last week I went to eat lunch with Carson at school. His teacher pulled me aside to let me know he would be receiving an award on Friday.
After I dropped him off at school I went in to save some seats close to the stage to make sure we would be able to get good pictures.
Before the assembly. He didn't know he was getting an award.
Carson was excited daddy came.
Waiting on stage for all the other star students to be called.
Carson's teacher, Mrs. Scherer. She told him he got the award because he always uses his manners.
(His name was misspelled, but it's fixed now)

Carson we are so proud of you. We love that you love going to school, and love your teachers, and friends. You are such a sweet little boy with such a loving heart. Keep it up!!

State fair of Texas 2013

Thursday Olivia and I hitched a ride on the church van to the fair. We went with Ryan's mom and grandma. Fun fact: A couple years ago I went with them when Carson was Olivia's age.
My sil was kind enough to give me her movie stub so I could get into the fair for free. Everyday but Saturday and Sunday I believe has a deal where you can get in discounted. Thursday just so happens to be bring a movie stub (I think it has to be a cinemark stub) and get in free or senior citizens get in free. I usually go a couple times, so the cheapest I get in the better.
Our first stop was the petting zoo. Olivia is a little unsure about petting zoos. She wanted so badly to feed them and touch them, but when she got close she would runaway or hide behind us. When she finally did feed them she did a giggle scream because the goats tongue tickled her hand.
After the animals we went for a Fletcher's corny dog. The corny dog is pretty much the only reason I go to the fair. I got Olivia her own corny dog. They're too good to share.
Afterwards we walked around through a couple buildings then took our pictures with big tex. Big tex burned last year so they rebuilt him bigger and uglier. It's tradition to take a picture with him either way.
After we saw big tex we stopped for a nutty ice cream bar, and to see the pig races.
Unfortunately, we only got to see part of the race. We had to be back to the gate at 3:30 to leave.
We were getting pretty hot, so it was a good time to leave.
We enjoyed our day at the fair with you Nonnie, and lolly. Thanks for letting us tag along.

Stay tuned for another fair post I'm taking Carson next week.

Baking with momma

This morning Carson told me he wanted to bake pumpkin cake. He had early release from school today, so it was a perfect day to spend the afternoon baking with my little man.
           Olivia wanted to help too.
Every fall I probably make this cake almost weekly. It doesn't stay around long.
I love when he wants to help me. I hope he likes to help me cook when he's older.
Impatiently waiting for it to mix.
Closing up the oven. Now, we just wait an hour and enjoy the yummy smell of pumpkin cake all throughout the house.
Ta da as Olivia would say.
